Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, has accused the Trump administration on Wednesday of attacking international law and sovereignty by activating Title III of the Helms-Burton Act. Shortly after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Twitter Washington's decision to allow claims in U.S. courts over 'confiscated' property (as they call nationalizations done in the wake of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution), Rodriguez expressed his strong rejection in social media.

The People''s Power National Assembly condemned the hostile policy by the Government of the United States against the Caribbean island and the Helms-Burton Act, a genocidal extraterritorial project against the Cuban people.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Saturday at the People''s Power National Assembly that the Helms-Burton Act reinforces the economic siege against the Caribbean island. "Washington is trying to activate that law aimed at taking us back to the beginning of history when we were a slave nation of an empire", Diaz-Canel underlined at the extraordinary session of the Cuban Parliament.

Cubans continue to denounce the blockade

CUBA,  October 16, 2014. Cuban civil society, regional and international organizations based in the country repeated their demand that the U.S. government lift the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed on the island. 

 During the Sixth Forum on the issue, held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, representatives called on President Barack Obama to end the illegal, unjust and genocidal policy, which constitutes one of the main obstacles to Cuba’s socio-economic development.

Argentines oppose U.S. blockade against Cuba


ARGENTINE,  October 15, 2014. Argentines working in solidarity with Cuba signed a letter written to U.S. President Barack Obama, demanding an end to the blockade imposed on the island, which they consider to be illegal and morally unsustainable.The action was organized by the Argentine Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, who circulated the letter via social networks to secure more signatures.

Reverend Jesse Jackson Demands End of US Blockade Against Cuba

U.S. Reverend Jesse Jackson, called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba for 52 years now, publishes today Chicago Sun-Times newspaper in its website. The implacable opposition of the United States government to the presence of Cuba in the hemispheric meetings, has virtually offended all of our neighbors', emphasized Jackson, who recognized that this policy of strangulation against the Caribbean island has helped in Washington's isolation.

US Blockade against Cuba Intensified under President Obama

CUBA,  October 9, 2014.  The US blockade against Cuba was intensified during president Barack Obama's administration with the increased persecution of financial institutions which have business relations with the island.

Andres Zaldivar, a researcher of the Center for the Study of Global Economy said in a video conference on the topic that the measures were part of the implementation of Obama's "smart power" policy.
