Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, has accused the Trump administration on Wednesday of attacking international law and sovereignty by activating Title III of the Helms-Burton Act. Shortly after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Twitter Washington's decision to allow claims in U.S. courts over 'confiscated' property (as they call nationalizations done in the wake of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution), Rodriguez expressed his strong rejection in social media.

The People''s Power National Assembly condemned the hostile policy by the Government of the United States against the Caribbean island and the Helms-Burton Act, a genocidal extraterritorial project against the Cuban people.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Saturday at the People''s Power National Assembly that the Helms-Burton Act reinforces the economic siege against the Caribbean island. "Washington is trying to activate that law aimed at taking us back to the beginning of history when we were a slave nation of an empire", Diaz-Canel underlined at the extraordinary session of the Cuban Parliament.

Blockade on Cuba Violates International Law, Nicaraguan Legislator

NICARAGUA,  October 20, 2014. The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba is violating all rationality, agreements, and principles of the international law, Nicaraguan legislator Carlos Emilio Lopez said.

Referring to that policy in force for more than 50 years, the member of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly told Prensa Latina that this concerns a unilateral act of one state against another.

Cuba Condemns U.S. Blockade in International Labor Organization Meeting

PERU,  October 15, 2014.  Cuba denounced here today in a Latin American labor meeting the unfair and immoral U.S. blockade imposed for over half a century on Cuba.The denunciation was made by Deputy Labor Minister of Cuba, Odalys Gonzalez, in the 18th Regional American Meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

After highlighting her country's efforts and achievements in the social and economic fields, Gonzalez said this has demanded great effort from all the Cuban workers, who "suffer directly the heavy damages" caused by the blockade.

Cuban culture suffers under U.S. blockade

CUBA,  October 16, 2014. After more than half a century, the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba continues to affect and increasingly damages diverse spheres of national culture.  According to sources from the Ministry of Culture (Mincult), it is estimated that since April 2013 through March 2104 the blockade has caused damages to Cuban music, visual arts, literature, arts education and the film industry in excess of 22 million dollars.
