Thirty years ago, we took an important step forward when considering development not only as a goal, but a right for all. We then acknowledged that this right may be applied regardless of our birthplace, social condition, color of the skin or affiliation to a social group.   

Cuba denounces US blockade at WTO

Madam President,

As on several occasions we have stated since the inception of the WTO in 1995, this is a highly sensitive issue for my country and none of the reasons that Cuba legitimately wields for not performing the trade policy review has changed to date.

Human Rigths Council: Cuba denounces undeniable impact of the blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba

We appreciate the presentation of the reports on this subject, in particular those related to the right to development whose Declaration will arrive to its 30th anniversary in 2016.

Negative effects of the blockade is denounced at the Human Rights Council

SWITZERLAND, September 13 th, 2016.- Within the framework of the 33rd regular session of the Human Rights Council, the negative effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba were denounced and a call was made for its total elimination.

Namibia continues to call for the immediate lifting of the remaining unilateral embargo against Cuba, says Namibian ambassador

Mr. President, Namibia aligns itself with the statements delivered on behalf of the Africa Group and the NAM.

We thank the Special Rapporteur and Independent Expert for their reports.We will first focus on the report by the Independent Expert on democratic & equitable international order.

Chair of the NAM at Human Rights Council: "unilateral coercive measures(...) against developing countries is contrary to international law, human rights law and the basic rights of populations"

Mr. President,
I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement in continuation of the efforts to highlight the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on human rights, development, international relations, trade, investment and cooperation.
