United Nations, Sept. 29.- Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero denounced on Tuesday the tightening of the US blockade against the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic, in a virtual event at the UN.

Brussels, September 1, 2020. The US hotel chain Marriott International abandoned its operations in Cuba on Tuesday due to the Trump government's pressure, the sector in Europe reported today.

The Reportur newsletter adds that the withdrawal precisely materializes as of September 1 as an additional element to those already revealed by Washington against Havana, tightened against tourism on the island since June 2019.

Marriott International announced to call off its operations in Cuba as of today, after the US government suspended its license to operate hotels on Cuba.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Thursday that the U.S. government has suspended private charter flights to Cuba, including those to Havana. According to a statement released today, all charters between the United States and Cuba over which the Department of Transportation exercises jurisdiction will be suspended, except for authorized public charters to and from Havana and other authorized private charters for emergency medical, search and rescue, and other flights considered in the interest of the United States.
