Statement by the High Representative- Vice-President Josep Borrell on US sanctions

I am deeply concerned at the growing use of sanctions, or the threat of sanctions, by the United States against European companies and interests. We have witnessed this developing trend in the cases of Iran, Cuba, the International Criminal Court and most recently the Nordstream 2 and Turkstream projects.

Blockade against Cuba hinders efforts against Covid-19, Cuba says

Geneva, Switzerland, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Tuesday denounced at the Human Rights Council the restrictions to the fight against Covid-19 due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, a hostile policy that has been tightened over the last few months.

'Battle is hard and we are winning it,' Cuban president says

Havana, Jun 29. The battle is hard, we have to win it and we are winning it, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said, referring to the US hostility.

'The enemy does have a well-organized plan against us, and the more we get ahead, the more the offensive is,' Diaz-Canel said on Monday during the June meeting of the Council of Ministers, reported on Granma newspaper.

During the meeting he led along with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, the Cuban statesman warned about the subversion offensive on social media, which he described as extremely aggressive.

UN rights expert urges Governments to save lives by lifting all economic sanctions amid COVID-19 pandemic

GENEVA (3 April 2020) – A UN human rights expert today called for the lifting of all  unilateral sanctions that obstruct the humanitarian responses of sanctioned States, in order to enable their health care systems to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and save lives.
