Zimbabwe MPs to demand the end of blockade against Cuba

ZIMBABWE, February 16th, 2017.- The Speaker of the Zimbabwe National Assembly Honorable Jacob Francis Mudenda urged that body to play an important role in the struggle for the total lifting of the US blockade against Cuba, as well as in the suspension of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

This was noted yesterday during the official launch of the Zimbabwe - Cuba Parliamentary Forum, a friendship group that includes members of both houses and is established for the first time in Zimbabwe.

"Let the Forum play a pivotal role, by using parliamentary diplomacy, to totally end the United States embargo against Cuba and the illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe," said the parliamentary leader when he officially launched the aforementioned  interparliamentary dialogue mechanism between the two countries.

The event, which was attended by a representation of the 37 members that initially integrate the Forum, was also presided over by the President of the Senate Honorable Mrs. Edna Madzongwe and the Cuban ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr. Elio Savón Oliva who also addressed the gathering.
