South Africa’s Durban city Stage Demonstrations of Protest in Solidarity with Cuba against the Blockade in front of US Consulate

Durban, November 19, 2019.- A mass demonstration took place in front of the US Consulate in Durban city, South Africa against the strengthening of hostility and blockade against Cuba by the Trump Administration.

The participants in the demonstration responded to the call of South Africa’s National Education and Health Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU).

The demonstrators wore T-shirts with messages of solidarity and the likeness of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief, as well as placards with slogans such as “Cuban sovereignty is not negotiable” and “End of the Blockade”, among other initiatives, characterized the protest in front of this consular representation, located in a Durban’s downtown avenue.

This demonstration, organized by political organizations which make up the alliance of government, together with multiple social and trade union organizations, solidarity groups and the population at large, adds up to others that have been taking place in the last few weeks against diplomatic and consular representations of the United States in South Africa.

In these events, the people and government of South Africa have strongly expressed the unwavering support and solidarity with Cuba, amid the current difficult situation created by the strengthening of the imperial siege. (Cubavsbloqueo-Embacuba Sudáfrica)
