President of South Africa expresses the support of his government to Cuba in its fight against the blockade

SOUTH AFRICA, Oct 31, 2018.- The President of the country, Ciryl Ramaphosa, issued a statement in which he expresses his country's support to Cuba, before the vote in the UN General Assembly on the resolution, which calls for an end to the economic blockade imposed by the United States of America against our country.

The president also points out in his statement that the current US policy toward Cuba under President Trump not only applies but intensifies the blockade, and ignores the majority support of the international community for its uprising and the normalization of Cuba-United States relations.

He took the opportunity to reaffirm the position of South Africa during the vote that will take place on October 31 at the United Nations, in which his country will vote in favor of the resolution presented by Cuba and reject the amendments presented by the United States.
