PERU, August 20, 2012.- The Peruvian government should ratify at the UN its historic stance to the U.S. blockade on Cuba, stated the 13th National Meeting of Solidarity with the island, recently concluded in this city.

A statement from the forum about the over-five-decade unjust measure condemns the Washington criminal policy and states the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to maintain Lima's traditional stance, for ending the economic, financial and trade siege with the Caribbean country.
The ratification of the Peruvian policy will be consistent with the speech President Ollanta Humala pronounced about the blockade last year at the UN General Assembly, the document noted.
The statement demands the cessation of the genocidal blockade and calls the international community to reiterate its almost unanimous rejection of it, when the General Assembly analyzes the issue again in the coming weeks.
It also calls the Peruvian citizens to send emails to U.S. President Barack Obama to lift the blockade established over 50 years to submit Cuba.
The statement defines the blockade as an outrageous and unreasonable measure and an act of economic war Washington has imposed on Cuba to stifle and isolate it. (Cubaminrex-PL)
