DENMARK, June 25, 2018.- The national board of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship approved in its meeting in June a statement through which they congratulate the Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, elected in the electoral process to the bodies of People’s Power where the Cuban democracy was evident as well as the unity of the people.
The statement ratifies the solidarity of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship with the Island to fight against the blockade imposed by the United States as well as the demand for the closure of Guantanamo Base and its return to Cuba. Likewise, it reaffirms its support to the Cuban nation to build a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
The Association is part of the international solidarity movement with Cuba and next October it will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The full text of the Declaration is reflected below:

Statement of the national executive board of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship
Congratulations to President Miguel Díaz-Canel!
The unit is strength!
Long live international solidarity!

The national board of directors of the Danish Friendship Association is pleased to congratulate the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, on his election to this important position. The Cuban democracy - with its electoral process to the bodies of the People’s Power developed at the level of the municipalities, the provinces and the nation has given a solid mandate to President Miguel Díaz-Canel and to the other elected representatives of the People’s Power bodies.
We note with satisfaction that the unity of the Cuban people has been maintained before, during and after these important elections. Unity is a necessary condition for Cuba to preserve its self-determination and its sovereignty in a world complicated by the reinforced hostility on the part of the United States with President Trump in the White House.
We wish to confirm our solidarity with Cuba and our support for Cuba's goal of building a productive and sustainable socialism. Such an example is much needed in today's world that is increasingly being threatened and degraded by anti-human economic systems, by the damage caused to the environment and climate as well as by imperialism and its wars.
The Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship is part of a strong and determined international movement of solidarity with Cuba to join in the struggle against the blockade of the United States as well as the demand for the closure of Guantanamo Base and its return to Cuba.
It is a movement of solidarity born with the Cuban Revolution almost 60 years ago and we are determined to remain firmly on the side of Cuba until this just struggle has been won.
Approved at the meeting held in June 2018 in Copenhagen.
