Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jamaica denounces unjust policy of blockade against Cuba

JAMAICA, September 25th, 2017.- Jamaica joined the voice of tens of countries that denounced and condemned, at United Nations, the criminal policy of blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba during almost 60 years.
Jamaican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, during the high level segment of the 72nd period of sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, held in New York, reiterated the traditional appeal of Jamaica to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the sister Caribbean nation.
Likewise, the Jamaican Chancellor denounced the damages caused by this genocidal policy to the people of Cuba, in particular, in the economic sphere: “This unjust embargo has restricted the ability of a hardworking and self-reliant people to engage in legitimate trade and to undertake international financial transactions”.
The people, Parliament and Government of Jamaica have historically and traditional opposed the US policy of blockade against Cuba. Examples of this are the countless expressions of solidarity from the different friendship with Cuba associations , the denunciation by high level government officials at regional meetings and international for a and the adoption of Parliamentary motions against the blockade during right consecutives years, the latter, in October, 2016.
