Mexican City Council Rejects U.S. Blockade against Cuba

MEXICO, June 28, 2018.-  The City Council of Chimalhuacan municipality expressed its support for the Cuban people and rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government on the island, it was known today.

In Act 121, the Chimalhuacano Cabildo, in the state of Mexico, expressed its opposition 'to any policy or activity that affects or harms the population of any country, especially the Cuban people.'

Similarly, the document recalls that in the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2016, there were 191 countries that voted against the siege of Cuba, sustained since 1962 in circumstances that constitute an affront to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Chimalhuacan Government also recognized the solidarity of the Cuban people with other nations of the world.

In this regard, he praised the benefits of the pedagogical program Yo si Puedo (Yes I Can), with which the Caribbean island has contributed to combat illiteracy in the world.

With this program, known in Chimalhuacan as Alfa TV, more than 15,000 of its inhabitants were alphabetized in that Mexican city.(Cubavsbloqueo-Prensa Latina)
