Financial Action Task Force (FATF) expresses confidence in Cuban financial system

FRANCE, October 24, 2014. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) decided today to exclude Cuba from its monitoring mechanisms acknowledging the work carried out by this nation to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

During a plenary meeting held in Paris, FATF agreed to exclude the Caribbean nation from the so-called Grey List, action that constitutes a demonstration of the international confidence in Cuba’s financial system.

Kazakh Communists Demand End of US Blockade on Cuba

KAZAKHSTAN,  October 23, 2014.  The Central Committee of the Communist Peoples'' Party of Kazakhstan (CPPK) today sent a letter to the UN General Assembly demanding the end of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

After delivering the letter to the island's ambassador to this Central-Asian nation, Carlos Valdes, CPPK general secretary Zambyl Akmetbekov said that economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than 50 years is a genocide action against 11 million people.

Jamaican Parliament Rejects U.S. Blockade on Cuba

JAMAICA,  October 23, 2014.  The Jamaican Parliament approved a resolution demanding the end of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for over 50 years, the government reported here today.

The motion, presented yesterday afternoon by lawmaker and Minister of Industry, Investment and Trade of the People's National Party, Anthony Hylton, was intensively discussed by members of the assembly, who highlighted Cuba's role in international collaboration and solidarity and referred to the impact of the unfair U.S. blockade on the Island.

Duma Calls on US to Lift Blockade on Cuba

RUSSIA, October 22, 2014. Russia’s Lower House or Duma has approved a motion to the UN General Assembly and international parliamentary groups calling for the end of the economic, financial and trade blockade of Cuba imposed by the United States in 1961.

It was passed by the State Duma on Tuesday.

The document says that the more than 50-year blockade was curbing the development of Cuba as a sovereign state and prevented Cubans from exercising their right to a free choice of their political, economic, social and cultural system.

Blockade on Cuba Violates International Law, Nicaraguan Legislator

NICARAGUA,  October 20, 2014. The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba is violating all rationality, agreements, and principles of the international law, Nicaraguan legislator Carlos Emilio Lopez said.

Referring to that policy in force for more than 50 years, the member of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly told Prensa Latina that this concerns a unilateral act of one state against another.

Ecuadorian Economist Rejects in France Blockade of Cuba

FRANCE,  October 20, 2014. Ecuadorian Market Power Control Superintendent Pedro Paez condemned in France the unilateral and aggressive policy of the blockade of Cuba that the united States has maintained until the present day, despite systematic rejection by the international community.

During a visit to this capital, where he participated in several conferences about the need for a new world financial architecture, the economist recalled that the United Nations Organiation has made statements repeatedly against the blockade.

Argentines oppose U.S. blockade against Cuba

 

ARGENTINE,  October 15, 2014. Argentines working in solidarity with Cuba signed a letter written to U.S. President Barack Obama, demanding an end to the blockade imposed on the island, which they consider to be illegal and morally unsustainable.The action was organized by the Argentine Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, who circulated the letter via social networks to secure more signatures.

Reverend Jesse Jackson Demands End of US Blockade Against Cuba

Lebanon ratifies condemnation to US economic blockade against Cuba

LEBANON,  October 9, 2014. Lebanon will maintain its historic vote in favor of the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, expressed an offcial from Lebanese Chancery.

Secretary General  at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, Wafic Rahimi, ratified the compromise while receiveing the Cuban ambassador to Beirut, René Ceballo.

Rejection of the United States blockade against Cuba among the most frequently mentioned topics in the general debate of UN General Assembly

GENEVA, October 9th, 2014. Over forty dignitaries from all regions of the world rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba during the recently concluded General Debate of the 69th regular session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

By demanding the end of the blockade, Cuba was acknowledged for its solidary contribution to the development of many southern countries, despite the shortcomings and constraints imposed by this genocidal policy.
