Private Sector, Another Victim of US Blockade, Cuba Charges

CUBA, Oct 11, 2018.-  Cuban workers in the private sector denounced the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the country.

Every day, we are affected in our work by the impact of the siege that the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years against the will of its people and the world, said Union Leader Jorge Guties, who represents the workers in that sector.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Guties described Washington's unilateral policy as criminal and senseless war aimed at subdueing Cubans through economic suffocation and discouragement.

Regarding its consequences on the private sector, he stressed that the blockade prevents the development of wholesale markets that facilitate supplies to non-state forms of management and undermines the country's economic progress.

These days, several condemnations of the US blockade have been uttered in the Caribbean island, in the framework of Cuba's demand prior to the voting at the United Nations General Assembly, on October 31, on a new draft resolution on the necessity to end the blockade of Cuba.
