Cuban President Confirms Continuity of Revolution Despite Blockade

CUBA, Oct 30, 2018.- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday ratified the continuity of the Revolution despite the U.S.blockade and its determination to impose a regime change on the island.

Diaz-Canel has called on his Twittter account the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade the U.S. government has maintained against Cuba for almost six decades.

'Despite the #Bloqueo, the hostility, political maneuvers and the actions #EEUU executes to impose a regime change in #Cuba, Âíhere is the #RevolucionCubana, alive and strong, firm, faithful to its principles! #NoMasBloqueo #UnblockCuba #SomosCuba,' the Cuban statesman posted some days ago.

The Cuban president also wrote, 'We will continue to demand tirelessly the end of the cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade against #Cuba and just compensation to our people for the economic and material damage caused in so many years of aggression. # NoMasBloqueo # UnblockCuba #SomosCuba.'

On Wednesday, October 31, the UN General Assembly will vote for a 27th consecutive year on a draft resolution calling for the cessation of the U.S. siege against Cuba.

Since 1992, the initiative has had a majority support in the main UN deliberative body.

On the last three occasions, 191 of 193 UN member states supported the resolution. In 2017, only the United States and Israel voted against it.

The international community has supported for more than two decades similar initiatives in the multilateral body, where the U.S. siege has been described as a crime, injustice, a violation of human rights, an obstacle to development and a vestige of the Cold War.(Cubavsbloqueo-Prensa Latina)
