Cuban Civil Society Demands end of the Blockade

CUBA, October 13 th, 2016.- The 13th Forum of the Organizations of the Cuban Civil Society, has adopted on Wednesday a statement that shows its rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade kept in force by the United States.

Representatives of youth, student, scientific, cultural, social organizations, as well as religious and fraternal groups, have ratified that position just some days before the debate, on the UN General Assembly, of the draft resolution submitted by Cuba on the need to end such criminal policy of blockade.

Sponsored by the Cuban Association of United Nations, the meeting was held in the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations, with the participation of more than twenty speakers.

Participants reiterated that the blockade is a massive, flagrant and systematic human rights violation of the Cuban people, which qualifies as an act of genocide.
