Cuban Ambassador blames the blockade as the main obstacle to the development of Cuba

MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur, October 27- After an invitation from the Malaya University, the ambassador of Cuba in Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández, delivered a lecture at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, entitled "The Cuban Economy: Challenges and Perspectives .

Throughout her presentation, the ambassador cited the obstacles faced by the Cuban economy for its development, where the blockade became the main obstacle since 1962. She informed the students on how the blockade, classified as genocide, was instituted by the US government to suffocate the Cuban people due to hunger and desperation and to date has caused damage worth more than 130.2 billion dollars.

The ambassador highlighted the strengthening of the blockade under the government of President Donald Trump and how it has became his instrument of policy against Cuba, while the rejection within the United States of this scourge that not only affects Cubans, but also grows also to the American people.

On the prospects of the economy, the ambassador explained about the process of updating the Cuban economic model and how its application has allowed allowing Cuba to improve growth to make the socialism for which the Revolution chose, more sustainable.
