Cuba to continue development despite US blockade, Foreign Minister says

Havana, May 24th, 2019.- Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Thursday on Twitter that despite the intensification of the U.S. blockade, Cuba will continue its economic development.

Faced with the intensification of the blockade and the threat of making it total and complete, Cubans together will find solutions to the difficulties and continue our economic development, he wrote in his account @BrunoRguezP.

Washington has been imposing an economic, financial and commercial blockade against Havana for almost 60 years, considered the main obstacle to the development in Cuba.

One of the most recent actions demonstrating the strengthening of U.S. hostility toward Cuba was the activation of Title III of the Helms Burton Act, aimed at hindering foreign investment in Cuba.

The law, in force since 1996, codifies the blockade imposed by the northern nation and with its four titles seeks to suffocate the country through direct meddling in its internal affairs.
