Cuban First VP denounces the tightening of the US blockade of Cuba

Salvador Valdes Mesa, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, denounced the intensification of the blockade that the United States has maintained for almost 60 years against the Caribbean island.

Despite the blockade, Cuba prioritizes the promotion of the well-being and protection of its children

"Despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, now tightened with the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the island continues to make progress in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and most importantly  in the protection of the rights of our children and adolescents," said Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations.

Eusebio Leal says Helms Burton Act harms Cuban sovereignty

The historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, stated that the application of Title III and IV of the Helms Burton Act harms Cuba´s peace and sovereignty. In statement to PL, Leal highlighted the absolute and strict rejection to all illegal, extraterritorial and immoral measures by Washington.'This act not only threatens Cuban peace, but also that of all the peoples of the world,' he expressed.

Helms-Burton Law threatens peace, Cuban President Warns

Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel has cautioned the Helms-Burton Law threatens peace, solidarity, peaceful coexistence and friendship. 'It's a law enacted to neo-colonize and enslave,' he further wrote in Twitter about Washington's barring the Peace Boat from docking in Cuban ports, as a result of restrictions recently enforced on US private vessels and planes.

Cuba is not frightened by the measures tightening the blockade

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest terms the measures announced by the United States Government on 4 June 2019, further tightening the economic blockade imposed on Cuba for over 60 years, at a cost for the Cuban economy which amounted to over 134 billion dollars in 2018

The U.S. Treasury Department added to sanctions announced April 17, and the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the prohibition of "people to people" cultural and educational trips, plus others related to travel and transportation services, remittances, banking, commerce, and telecommunications

Cuban Foreign Minister denounces worsening of US blockade

Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno RodrIguez, has denounced that the tightening and extraterritorial application of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade is an attack on International Law and the sovereignty of States. Rodriguez posted on Twitter that this policy is the main impediment to our development and a flagrant violation of the human rights of all Cubans.

 

Helms-Burton Act violates United Nations Charter, Cuba denounces

The condemnation of the Helms-Burton Act imposed by the United States on Cuba has grown all over the world, because its enforcement violates the United Nations Charter and the precepts of International Law. The statement was made by Cuban Ambassador Humberto Rivera at a meeting of the Group of 77 plus China, at which he explained the consequences of the US act.

United States isolated in its policy against Cuba

Washington is totally isolated in its policy against Cuba, said the general director of the United States Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, in an presentation on national television.
