Forum in Brazil Supports Cuban Revolution, Condemns Blockade

Brasilia, 26 de junio de 2019.- About 300 delegates from more than 15 Brazilian states and Latin American countries, who participated in the 24th National Convention of Solidarity with Cuba, in Santos, Sao Paulo, are ratifying on Tuesday their unconditional support to the Cuban Revolution.

Participants in the forum, who gathered over the weekend, condemn in a letter 'the worsening of the US imperialist offensive against Cuba and our continent.'

They denounce that 'the US government reiterates its policy of war, implements economic sanctions and threatens with military intervention the Cuban and Venezuelan revolutions, and the people of Nicaragua.'

The letter insists that 'the US imperialist offensive against our people is aimed at plundering wealth, super-exploitation of labor and prevents that the Latin America peoples can build their unity, solidarity and independence.'

The text rejects the application by Washington of Article III of Helms-Burton Act, which had been suspended by all Democratic or Republican presidents, seeking to suffocate the Cuban economy, deepening the blockade and seeking to cause serious social prejudice.

The document also thanks the Cuban government and people for the support given to the international campaign for the release of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, imprisoned for an evidently political, partial and unfair sentence.
