#UnblockCuba Exhibit opened at the UN headquarters with broad participation of representatives from several nations

NEW YORK, October 19, 2017.- The #UnblockCuba exhibit, including the winning posters and best projects of the contest bearing the same name, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and the National Design Office of Cuba, was opened on October 18 at the headquarters of the United Nations in the City of New York. The inauguration included the opening words of the Cuban Permanent Representative to the organization, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, who explained the meaning of the international contest that combined arts with the claim of the world and the island to put an end to 55 years of unjust and cruel US blockade.
The exhibit was attended by more than 200 people, including Permanent Representatives and Ambassadors, Deputy Permanent Representatives and delegates from Permanent Missions accredited to the United Nations, as well as officials of the Organization.
In her statement, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted the full validity of the blockade, which is strictly enforced and has also been strengthened.
While inviting those present to enjoy the exhibit, Rodríguez Camejo called on the attendees to continue offering their support to Cuba this November 1st, when draft resolution entitled "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" will be submitted.
She also stressed that the struggle of the Cuban people "will only end when the United States government unilaterally and unconditionally eliminates this cruel policy that, instead of isolating us, has only served to make our small island a sovereign, dignified and supportive country."

The exhibit will remain at the United Nations headquarters until next Friday, October 20, when it will return to the headquarters of the Center for Cuban Studies in the City of New York.
