Importance of the elimination of the US blockade against was highlighted in Bahamas

THE BAHAMAS, March 21, 2016.- The Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, was invited to the radio show "Connected" the Guardian Radio station 96.9, and hosted by journalist Lester Cox.

As announced by the journalist himself, his radio show would be dedicated to Cuba in the next three days, so he asked several questions to Ambassador regarding topics of interest to the Bahamian public to give opening cycle questions from the audience.

During the interview, the Cuban Ambassador took the opportunity to provide a brief update on the state of bilateral relations, including information on the issuance of tourists to our country in recent years, joint projects between the two countries in various fields, the Cuban program scholarship to offer offered for free to students from all over the world, and the existing immigration memorandum between the two countries, among others.

Likewise, the Cuban diplomat stressed the importance of the elimination of the US blockade on the island, which she described as an obstacle to the development of Cuba and an essential element for the progress towards normalization of bilateral relations between the United States and Cuba. She also noted that despite the measures announced by the US government, the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba remains in force.

The Ambassador announced the holding of the Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) on June 4 with preparatory meetings on 2 and 3 June. She also referred to the importance of the ACS, the various programs being carried out with the Caribbean countries, and the good bilateral relations between the two nations.
