President of Tanzania demands lift U.S. blockade against Cuba

TANZANIA, September 22nd, 2011.-  Tanzania’s President, Jakaya M. Kikwete, during his speech before the plenary of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization, demanded today United States lift the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.

“…That is why we also remain in full solidarity with the people of Cuba in demanding the end to all embargos against them. The people in this country has suffered far too long, it is time its burdens are eased from their shoulders”, said Kikwete in his statement.

Trying to turn Cubans against the young Revolution by subjecting them to deprivation, hunger and diseases, U.S. Government imposed this criminal and cruel policy against the Island almost 50 years ago.

Despite of the fact that the blockade against Cuba has been overwhelmingly condemned in the last 19 years, the main elements of the blockade have been maintained or intensified.

The Cuban health system have suffered serious damage during the past years  represented by the extra costs involved in obtaining supplies and equipment in more distant markets, accompanied by distress among the patients and their relatives. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba Tanzania)
