US Blockade Harm to Cuban Kids Descried
Havana, Jul 10, 2006. (Prensa Latina) Visiting members of the Pastors for Peace Caravan condemned the damage to education caused by the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade of Cuba.
The caravanistas were informed by Moraima Orozco, an official from the Island’s Ministry of Education, that these coercive actions by Washington prevent the country from purchasing equipment and material for the education of more than 45,000 children in special schools.
The White House economic war against Cubans even bans the buying of educational toys, software or tools for physical rehab of these children with motor, visual or intellectual disabilities, she stressed.
However, the Cuban government does its best to reintegrate this sector into the country’s social and economic life, added Orozco.
